Located near the ancient city of Bharatpur on
the highway between Jaipur and Agra - Keoladeo
Ghana National Park and Bird Sanctuary is
considered as one of the finest in the
world.

A perfect habitat for a variety of water
fowls, the area was declared a sanctuary in 1956
and a national park in 1982. Today, it is an
important bird breeding and feeding grounds to
over 400 species of birds.
The outstanding nesting species are the open
billed stork, painted stork, egrets, darter,
spoonbill, herons, and cormorants which feed on
the rich aquatic species during the monsoons
period and for some time thereafter. Exotic
migratory birds from Afghanistan, Central Asia,
as well as the rate Siberian Cranes come here in
about August and they stay until around the end
of February. The park has substantial population
of birds and prey and a variety of fauna.
